In previous articles I have described the various types of massage, the difference between therapeutic massage and relaxation and how to find a LMT. But I still hear the question how does massage help “my” condition. So I will start generally with this article and go on to other illnesses and injuries with future articles.
First of all while it is not always necessary to utilize medical massage or body work for treatment in relevant cases. However it is advised to use a medical or therapeutic Massage Therapist if only for the advanced education of the therapist. Also, you should consult your physician on any treatment.
Massage Therapy improves circulation. Which means in with the good and out with the bad. The musculature of the body is a large pump made up of many smaller pumps. When they contract they “flush” the fluids and when they relax or expand they “vacuum” “new” fluids in. If a single muscle does not fully relax or contract then the amount of flow is limited. Like squeezing a hose in your hand, the restriction reduces the amount of fluids moving through that area. This restriction is one way the muscles and soft tissue contribute to high blood pressure. Restriction of fluid also means drainage is inhibited, as well as curbing necessary nutritional flow. Blood is not the only fluid being moved. There is also lymphatic fluid which is similar to the sewer system of the body, i.e. drainage. Restrictions of drainage can create swelling, congestion, backups or pressure. Most of the bodies immune, visceral and repair functions rely on constant voluminous flow of fluids to do their job.
So keep those pumps at their best and improve your bodies function. Drink lots of water, breath deep, and get a massage. Your pumps will thank-you for it
Wow, great blog article.Really thank you! Much obliged.
Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
There are many types of massage, like a neck massage, back massage, or face massage, etc… Each type have there own benefits. Many people prefer to get a whole-body massage to enjoy the relaxing pleasure of kneaded muscles all over the torso and limbs.
